TIA (Teacher Incentive Allotment)

TIA (Teacher Incentive Allotment)

What is TIA?
The Teacher Incentive Allotment is a state program that rewards highly effective teachers and helps districts recruit, retain, and support great teaching – especially in high-needs and rural schools. The Texas Legislature created TIA in 2019 (HB 3), and it is administered by TEA and the Texas School Safety Center.

How teacher designations work
Teachers can earn one of four statewide designations – Accomplished, Recognized, Exemplary, or Master  through a district’s approved local designation system (or via National Board Certification for a Recognized designation). Designations appear on a teacher’s SBEC certificate and are valid for five years

Funding basics
Each designated teacher generates additional state funding for the district. The amount varies by designation level and by the campus’s socioeconomic and rural status. Current statewide ranges are approximately: Accomplished $1,500-$3,000; Recognized $3,000–$9,000; Exemplary $6,000–$18,000; Master $12,000–$32,000. Districts are notified of allotments in April, and at least 90% of TIA funds must be spent on teacher compensation at the campus where the designated teacher works (funds must be spent by August 31 of that year).

New Home ISD: Year 1 of implementation
We are in Year 1 of TIA implementation. That means we are:

  • Building and calibrating our local designation system (teacher observation + student growth measures).

  • Engaging a stakeholder committee and aligning our spending plan to campus needs and state requirements.

  • Preparing for the data capture year, during which eligible teachers will have full observations and student growth measures collected as required by TEA rules.

What families and staff can expect

  • TIA does not change curriculum, grading, or student schedules.

  • It strengthens our ability to recognize excellence and retain great teachers, especially in high-needs areas.

  • We will communicate timelines and results as TEA validates designations and releases district allotments each spring.

Our commitment
New Home ISD will implement TIA with clarity, fairness, and transparency – staying Rooted in Tradition and Reaching for Tomorrow by investing in the excellent teaching that helps every Leopard thrive.
