Welcome to New Home Elementary School
My name is Kelly Baum, and I am thrilled to serve as the principal of New Home Elementary! I have already grown to love the families that make up this wonderful school and community. Small-town schools have always held a special place in my heart, and I truly love what it means to be a New Home Leopard!
At New Home Elementary, our goal is to create an environment where every student feels loved, supported, and inspired to learn. We believe all students can succeed when they are encouraged to try, even when learning is challenging. Please know that our staff is here to serve our families and students to the very best of our ability. We are blessed with an incredible team of teachers and support staff who care deeply about every child who walks through our doors.
Your children are your most precious treasures—and we are honored that you share them with us each day. Always feel free to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or celebrations.

UIL Academics
UIL tryouts are currently underway at NHES and teams will be announced by October 20, 2025. Additional details regarding individual contests will be shared directly with selected students and their parents.
This year’s UIL contest will be hosted by Abernathy ISD on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. Team events include: Maps, Graphs, & Charts, Dictionary Skills, Number Sense, Music Memory, Spelling, Art, Social Studies, Listening Skills & Chess
