November 3, 2026 Election
With the November 3, 2026 election approaching, now is a good time to make sure you - and eligible members of our school community - are registered to vote. The Texas voter registration deadline is Monday, October 5, 2026.
Texas public education continues to experience significant changes and challenges in school funding, teacher compensation, special education funding, accountability, career and technical education, and other areas that directly affect our schools and students. The November election will include races for offices that play important roles in shaping Texas public education, including the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Texas Legislature, State Board of Education, and other statewide and local offices. The Texas Secretary of State lists eight State Board of Education seats and 16 State Senate seats among the offices scheduled for election in 2026. This is in addition to our four local seats for New Home ISD School Board.
These offices have different responsibilities, but collectively they can have a direct and substantial impact on school funding, education policy, accountability requirements, curriculum and instructional standards, and the resources available to Texas public schools. The 2026 election is therefore an important opportunity for Texans to participate in the democratic process and make their voices heard on the issues that matter to them.
Our role as a school district is not to tell anyone how to vote; it is to encourage civic participation and provide accurate, nonpartisan information so members of our community can make their own informed decisions.
Please take a moment to:
- Check your voter registration status to make sure your registration is current.
- Update your registration if you have recently moved or changed your name.
- Register to vote if you are eligible but not currently registered.

Whether you are a longtime voter or preparing to vote for the first time, take the time to learn about the candidates and issues on your ballot, consider the information that is important to you and your family, and participate in the process.
