Weekend Celebrations
This weekend, Grady Austin represented New Home ISD at the Texas State Science and Engineering Fair (TXSEF), held on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station.
In February, more than 25,000 students from across Texas competed at the Regional level for the opportunity to advance to the state fair. Grady was among approximately 1,200 students who earned the distinction of presenting their projects at this prestigious event.
Grady’s project focused on innovative plant care technology. He designed and programmed a robot capable of monitoring soil moisture levels and the amount of sunlight received by a plant. When moisture levels fell below optimal conditions, the robot signaled an automated watering system to ensure the plant’s health and growth.
While Grady did not place among the top three finalists, his participation in the state competition provided a valuable and rewarding experience.
Grady’s achievement in advancing to the state level reflects his dedication, curiosity, and commitment to scientific exploration. Please join me in congratulating Grady on this outstanding achievement.
