New Home Independent School District

Students Today, Leaders Tomorrow, LEOPARDS FOREVER!

Student Attendance

Posted Date: 12/12/25 (11:52 AM)

Leopard families,

As we head into the end of the semester, a quick reminder that every day really does count - even the last week of the semester. Teachers use this time to finish learning targets, give end-of-semester assessments, and set students up for a strong start in January. Not to mention, NHSS is hosting a fun-filled volleyball tournament for all students and staff and NHES is holding class parties.

As a friendly reminder; New Home ISD is partially funded based on Average Daily Attendance, or ADA. On average, each student absence costs the district about $57 per day. For example, if 100 students are out the last two days of this semester, that’s 100 × 2 × $57 = $11,400 NHISD doesn't receive. Those are funds that support classrooms, programs, and services our kids need and love.

How you can help:

  • Make sure your student is in attendance on all scheduled instructional days
  • Schedule appointments outside the school day when possible
  • Aim for on-time arrival - it matters for learning and attendance
  • If your child is sick, please follow normal absence procedures (we want healthy students) and send any documentation to the campus
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure students are at school when in session, and helping to guarantee NHISD is able to generate every dollar the state makes available to us.

We look forward to seeing all of our Leopards next week as we wrap up the first half of this school year!

Sincerely,
Julia
